Two orphaned baby burrowing owls, nicknamed Linford and Christie, have moved into the home of their keeper Jimmy Robinson. The owlets were hatched in an incubator at Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire, and are now being hand-reared by Jimmy.

My latest life goal is to hand raise a burrowing owlet. Because, obviously.

I dont know how my kids do it, but when I eat those Flaming Hot...

I would love to live in a teepee on a beach in Australia. Or anywhere. Even a tiny tiny cabin in the mountains, away from people and even technology. These stories only fuel my desire to be far away from society.

I’m really upset that Google let this happen and that what they’re really trying to do is force more people to use their own social networking systems. I really hoped Google wouldn’t kill Picnik when they were first acquired but kind of felt it was just a matter of time before they did. Well they really lived up to my expectation there.

Picnik let photo editing be fun, creative, silly, and was an easy way to share images ACROSS THE BOARD OF SOCIAL NETWORKS. Google and Picnik have now begun the effort to herd users to G+ where you can “find many of your favorite Picnik effects” and blah blah blah. (No idea on what’s to become of the editing system in PicasaWeb for accounts that dont do G+ photos.) I know Im being dramatic but Im just so sick of social network manipulation. Mostly Im just sad Google killed something fun and cool after incorporating the technology into its own networks.

So take advantage of Picnik for another two months. The premium features will be free until then too. This is such a cool little online program - art teachers and even pro photographers used it! - and I hope something else pops up to take its place. Although Google will just acquire it, take its tech, then kill it. =( The whole “dont be evil” moto is down the drain at this point for me. Im so bumbed. … Blech. Now I feel I must go and lament some real issue of importance. ☮
